Yvonne Annette 'Bonnie' Acuña

July 24, 1959 - March 8, 2001

Yvonne Annette `Bonnie' Acuna passed away after a strong and bravely fought battle with carcinoid cancer. She was 41 years old. Bonnie was a 24 year resident of Austin and a member of San Jose Catholic Church. She attended UT for three years, where she studied music and medicine.

She worked as a C.C.D. teacher, performed with various choral groups, and was a Lay Eucharistic Minister for San JoseCatholic Church. Bonnie was involved with the Young Christian Friends Adult Group and the C.Y.O. of San Jose Catholic Church. She was a member of the Revelation Generation Youth Group in Wiesbaden, Germany. She was an active member of the Wiesbaden Alumni Association. She worked for the Workers Compensation Commission as an Auditor 3. Bonnie retired as an employee of the State of Texas after having served for seventeen loyal years.

Bonnie is survived by her beloved sons, Nicholas Casey and Adrian Samuel Acuna; and their father Thomas Morris, of Austin; parents, Raymundo and Teresa Acuna, of Austin; brother, Ray Acuna and wife, Carmen, of Austin; sisters, Jo Ann Leos, of Kyle, Lisa Acuna and Francisco Castellanos, of Austin and Diana and husband, Crescencio Martinez, of Kyle; nieces and nephews, Andrew, Matthew, and Martina Leos, of Kyle, Crescencio Jr. and Misty Dawn Martinez, of Kyle and Xavier and Cristina Acuna, of Austin. Bonnie is also survived by Lupe Morris and her entire family.

There will be a visitation with the family on Saturday, March 10, 2001, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden Funeral Home. The recitation of the rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2001, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2001, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Kirby Garner celebrant.

Committal services will follow at Assumption Cemetery. Honoring Bonnie asher pallbearers will be Ray Acuna, Andrew Leos, Francisco Castellanos, Albert Sanchez, Andy Liebler, and Al Jaimez. Serving as her honorary pallbearers will be Dorina Rodriguez, Melinda Gomez, Martiza Morris, Nina Cardenas, andLinda Rivera.
